Hello Family, I
am so happy to read your letters every week. This week I got a letter from
everyone but David and Rachel. I think that may be the most ever. I really
appreciate your support. I truly love you!
Let me answer
your questions. How are you? I am doing
great. How is your companion, zone, and investigators? My companion is great.
He is very positive and a hard worker. My zone went from an experienced Zone to
a Nursery We have 4 members of our Zone
are Training. I haven't seen 2 of the trainees yet. My investigators are doing
well. We have lost a few, and one really good one. But we have found some great
ones. We had 5 people come to church this week which is exciting. Do you do
most of your work on bike or do you go on buses and trains a lot too? If I am
in my area or even Zone, I do all the work on my bike or feet. But if I leave
the Zone for meetings or something, I will use the MRT. Tell us at least one story about balloon
use. I will tell you 2. I had a companion who loved Pokemon and his favorite
was Picachu. So for Christmas I made him a big Picachu. I think you have
probably seen the picture. My companion totally loved it. The other was this
Saturday I went to a Park and there was a father there so I started talking to
him and in the end got his number. I was so happy, but then I asked to give his
daughter a balloon and he was so happy. Then his daughter got an Elephant
balloon and She was so happy. Which made us even more happy. I believe he will
set up and meet this week.
Letter to Pres:
Hello,
First off you
want the report on the Melchizedek priesthood holder we are going to help come
back to church. We have been working with a Gong dx and he came last week for
the second time since I got to Tucheng. This week he didn't come because of
work, but he and his wife committed to come next week. Then there is a Lin Fei
Long who we actually have meet with yet but we are set up to have dinner with
him Tuesday which hopefully will go well and I can tell you he came to church
next week but we will see.
This week went
really well. Because of Transfers we didn't have to go on any exchanges this
week which was nice. A whole week to just focus on our Area. We saw some cool
miracles. On Friday we had planned to go to 2 areas during WPS and we went to
the first and as we were riding into the area I saw a guy on the street a road
down from us and there weren't many people close by so we hurried over to talk
to him but had to go around a big building so that when we got there this boy was
getting on his motorbike as we were parking bikes. I felt I had to talk to him
so I didn't even lock my bike and hurried over to talk to him and and he was
great. He was a disillusioned Catholic and he honestly said "he believes
all churches are great but how could we know which one is right considering
there are so many?" I couldn't
answer him because the question was too hard so he drove away. Not really! We
told him about a 14 yer old boy who had the same question and how god answered
him and how he could receive an answer to. We were able to get his number and
give him a Book of Mormon. I think he will meet with us this week.
Then that night we
went to a street we had planned to go to and we only had a little time to
contact but as we were leaving the street my companion saw an investigator who
had not answered his phone for a week, and set up a time with him the next day.
He came and we had a great experience in the lesson and he has been answering
his phone since then. God does inspire you where to go and when. I was so
happy. That night we hate chocolate cake to celebrate.
I am trying to
sprint to the End. I have a great companion helping me. My writing is still at
about 200 characters. I was reviewing this last week.
Thanks for all you
do

Spiritual thought:
In the Virtue Attribute in Preach my Gospel it states
that a Virtuous person casts out bad thoughts and repents quickly after making
a mistake. I really like how we are not expected to be perfetc. Moroni 10:32
helps us with understanding this, it is only by the grace of god we are made
perfetc. I know that there was only one perfect person baptized but every
baptized person comes out perfetc. Not because they deserve it but because
"in Christ they become perfect" his bowels are full of grace and
mercy. The last sentence in the attribute is a great promise. It states
"You can become virtuous." You can do it!
Well I love you all and am so thankful for all your love.

Hey President I don't know what just happened but somehow
the letter I wrote you got deleted. SO here I go again.
This week went
great in our area but not in our Zone. There was again a number drop. I was
really disappointed, But I will do all I can to help it go up next week.
This week I went
on 2 exchanges. One with Elder Parkinson and one with Elder Hagadorn. We
decided to have Elder Parkinson come here and let him see how his Area could
be. We had 8 lessons together in those 24 hours and so we had minimal finding
time, which is what he needs the most help with. But we had one really great
lesson with a TongXue who was so humble and believing. We asked inspired
questions which made it easy to teach to his needs and it went smooth and the
boy committed to prayer and reading and baptism. Then I went to XinZhuang with
Elder Hagadorn and he was great. We got fanged a few times and one time we had
15 minutes before the next guy came and so I said we should go out and find.
Then we went and talked to a beibei who wasn't that interested but as we talked
to him a young man pulled up in his scooter to us and said "Jesus is the
only true god." Which was random but we told him he was right and started
talking to him and gave him a BOM and he set up for that night. It was a cool
miracle and the best part was his English name is Gert.
Me and my
Companion are doing great. The LA Melchizedek priesthood holders we are working
with are a Gong, lin and Chu DX who all have potential of coming back to church
this month but none came this week.
Thanks for all you
do,
Elder Sabey
Spiritual
thought:
If all men were
like unto Mark Sabey.. .the very foundations of Hell would shake.
I have realized I
would much rather be a good father then missionary.
I love you dad and
will write you a letter today
I love you Father! (and the rest of you all)
I am so grateful
to have such a great example. You are truly amazing.
But first let me answer moms questions.
Tell us about your week, what weird food you ate, who
comes and peike’s with you--tell us about them. This week I ate liu bing which
is some peanut butter, parsley and hairy meat in a manto. Kinda weird. Also
lots of seaweed, there are so many different types and most taste good. I ate
at a hot pot place this week. Which is different then American food. You have a
bunch of fresh food that you just throw into boiling water and then eat it.
Thou throw in things like pig skin, muscles, squid, and vegetables. It is
pretty good. But a list of some weird food I have eaten in Taiwan is : Stinky
tofu, pig intestine noodles, slug, pig ear, cow stomach, liver, pig skin, pig
foot, and many other weird foods I can’t think of now.
As far as peikes
go, there is a boy named Jason who is a RG and he feels happiest at church and
loves to help us peike. There is a guy names Rusty who loves missionaries and
his work is taking care of ole people is an old folks home. And he works only
like 4 times a week so if he has the day off he will peike. There is a Huang JM who is a Mother of a 7
year old boy. She is a stay at home Mom and when her kid is at school she loves
to help peike.
Ely is a Taxi
Driver and so if we give him enough times notice he can help us peike.
They are all great
and have a big testimony of the Gospel.
Do you oversee any
sister missionaries? Yes If so, how do
they do splits?
they go on splits with Sister training leaders. This is
the first official church sister missionary position. Then the sisters report
on the exchange with their district leaders and from them to us. Other than
that we train them in meetings and call them to help them.

I love you all so
much and am so happy when I read your letters. You all are such amazing people,
constantly doing good to those around you. Thanks for your example.
Do you shower at
night? NO Does your apartment have air
conditioning? Yes. Tell us about the lessons you taught today. Today? It is 6
in the morning so I haven't taught any yet... But how about yesterday.
Yesterday we taught 2 investigators 3 members and 1 RC lesson. The member
lessons where all to encourage them to go out and do missionary work. The RC
was Huang Sheng Yuan and we watcher a Mormon message on scriptures and then
read with him Mosiah 4! It was way fun. He didn't get to Church on time, so he
stayed after church for 2 hours to be able to take the Sacrament! I was so
happy. The two investigator lessons went well, the first was with a Que
Dixiong. He said that he was hoping to use the power of religion to get rid of
some bad habits. He talked about how he got divorced and then started to drink
and smoke and do drugs, even though he was taking care of 2 kids but as they
grew up he quit drinking and drugs. We went off from our original plan and hit
the Plan of Salvation real quick, then spent the rest the time testifying of
the atonement and reading about it in the scriptures, and how baptism is what
he is looking for. He set a Date for 8/10. Then we meet with a Liu Dixiong who
is a Christian, and his sister is a member. I Loved it. He is so humble and we
helped him learn how to read the Book of Mormon and how we can know the truth
of the Church through reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it. He
committed to read Daily. What service did you do this week (are you doing “Just
Serve?” No.) I serve in a little library every week for 1 hour where I organize
all the Children’s books.
Thanks for the
great questions!
Letter to
President:
Hey President.
Thanks for the
time you put forth to support us.
I had a great week
with many miracles. This week we went on 2 exchanges. I was with Elder Norris
and Elder Hawkins. With Elder Norris we
got 2 new investigators and found 2 LAs in the streets! It was crazy. The first
new investigator was a student who we has a street lesson with, and he set up.
The other New investigator was a former who wanted to meet again and contacted
Elder Norris. But then he learned he lived in Tucheng so he gave it to us as a
referral but then when we learned his address it was in Elder Norris's
(SanXias) Area so we set him up for the
exchange. I liked it. He is covered in tattoos and carries a fake gun and has a
lot of big Jewelry and just looks like a thug, but he came to the baptismal
service and church. It is so great. While finding on the street I had a feeling
I should talk to a guy so I did and he turned out to be and LA, he was willing
to set up and give us his number! I almost never run into LAs on the street.
Maybe monthly. But then 15 minutes latter this 20 year old waves to me, so I
stop and he runs out and says "Long time no see." I was thinking I
have never seen you, this is my 2nd time in SanXia, and he must have known what
I was thinking because he said "I mean you guys, when you see the name
badge you know who it is. I thought he must be a former but after further
questioning I learned he was an LA. He also set up and gave us some orange
juice. It was such a cool miracle. Elder Norris still has a hard time
contacting at lights and doesn't love finding but loves his companion and finds
anyways. So I was proud of him. He is a good guy. I gave a little training on
how Christ like attributes help in finding.
Then with Elder
Hawkins I trained on contacting and how we shouldn't contact to get a New
Investigator but to help people feel the love of God and then they will become
better investigators, the contact will go smoother and he will know what to
say. It was cool. He wanted to try and
expect people to contact him.
We saw some cool
miracles. One was we went to visit a Melchezidek priesthood holder’s family the
Gong family, who we have been working on. We had called him 3 times that dya to
see if we could go visit him and he never answered his phone. But we went
anyways and when we got there his wife and son where there (the son had never
been there before, he is their only child that was baptized. Brother Gong got there 3 minutes later and we
were able to review with them the commandments and they committed to church and
to pay tithing! I was so happy. Then they actually came to church and I was
even more happy. they stayed for all three hours!
The other miracle
was we went and visited formers and of course the last former on the street we
were visiting was a family who spoke great English and remembered missionaries
visiting them like 10 years ago and set up! It was great.
Thanks again,
Elder Sabey
Spiritual thought:
A companion once
said that he loves when prophets almost die because they give their best talks
then. I thought it was funny, but true. If we only had one day left what would
we want to be recorded. Moroni told us
how to know the Book of Mormon is true and then ends testifying of the
Atonement, King Benjamin’s talk was on the atonement. Lehi blessed his kids. I
think family and the atonement are the 2 most important things.
Love you all
Elder Sabey
